Folate (also known as vitamin B9) can be found in dark green leafy vegetables (turnip greens, spinach, romain lettuce, asparagus, brussels sprouts, broccoli), beans, peanuts, sunflower seeds, fresh fruits, whole grains, liver, seafood, eggs, and fortified foods.

Nutrient Form

We mostly use folate in the form of folic acid because the body has an easier time absorbing folic acid than folate. Folate is a water-soluble vitamin so it must be taken daily through food or supplements.*
